In a light-flooded top-floor apartment in 1140 Vienna, a technically challenging existing structure was transformed into an exclusive new conservatory with an impressive view over the rooftops of Vienna and into the greenery. The existing conservatory was completely removed and replaced with a modern, individually planned construction. The particular challenge lay in the structural situation on the existing terrace. The conservatory was built with a flat roof and a complex Z-shaped construction and had to be precisely adapted to the existing conditions. Special attention was paid to a clean, high-quality look. External venetian blinds were integrated in the designated areas and concealed behind a specially designed cover panel. The gutter was also discreetly integrated into the construction so that technical elements recede visually and the modern appearance of the conservatory is preserved. The natural, oiled wood gives the conservatory a warm and homely atmosphere. The wooden window sill was also renewed and executed to match the high-quality design. For the exceptional panoramic view, large sliding windows with particularly slim frames were installed. The reduced frame design allows a generous view outside and lets the boundaries between living space and terrace almost disappear. A custom-made solid wood sliding door elegantly separates the conservatory area from an adjoining office and combines functionality with high-quality design. This conservatory shows how even complex structural conditions can be transformed into an extraordinary living space with modern architecture, precise planning and high-quality materials.
