Multi-storey conservatory in Hollabrunn – living space extension with wood, glass and aluminum
As part of an extensive renovation project, a multi-storey conservatory is being built in Hollabrunn, designed as a combination of glulam, thermal insulation glass and custom-made aluminum cladding. The aim is to vertically extend the living space, taking into account current requirements for energy efficiency, building physics and statics.
The load-bearing structure is made of CNC-manufactured glulam with high dimensional stability. The façade structure of the conservatory is designed with large areas of safety and insulating glazing (VSG, ESG). Several sliding balcony doors ensure natural cross-ventilation and thermal balance on all levels. The conservatory creates additional usable living space while allowing daylight to enter over several storeys.
The building envelope on the courtyard side will be renovated with a new external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). At the same time, all windows and doors will be replaced. Energy-efficient plastic-aluminum systems with triple glazing will be used, suitable for new builds and renovations. All timber connections and glass transitions are protected with aluminum attic cladding – clearly defined in terms of function and design.
