At this idyllically situated house in Wiener Neudorf, a modern summer garden was comprehensively renovated. The special atmosphere of the dark brown summer garden was to be preserved, and the existing structure restored to be durable and visually appealing once again. During the renovation it became apparent that several supports were already rotten and that the load-bearing timber structure had also been damaged by water ingress. The area around the sliding door in particular had proven to be a significant weak point for water ingress. The damaged timber parts were professionally repaired and the affected supports replaced. To better protect the area around the sliding door from penetrating water in future, a precisely fitted aluminium tray was also installed. This allowed the cause of the moisture problems to be resolved in a targeted way and the timber structure to be protected for the long term. Special attention was also paid to the appearance. The new and restored timber parts were finished in exactly the existing dark brown RAL colour, so that the repairs blend harmoniously into the original design of the summer garden. As a result, the summer garden shines in new splendour again and fits seamlessly into the overall look of the house. Thanks to the renovation, the modern summer garden was preserved and its function as a sheltered transition into the beautiful, secluded garden was fully restored. This project shows that even with water ingress, rotten supports and damaged timber structures, a complete replacement is not always necessary. With precise root-cause analysis and well-thought-out craftsmanship, an existing summer garden can be renovated sustainably and enhanced aesthetically.
